—I’ve come to the conclusion (and conviction, for that matter) that a wedding day is so much more than a photo opp in the picture-perfect setting. It’s a living + breathing day full of moments that can’t be replicated, as well as moments that shouldn’t be falsified for the sake of a “cute photo”. The wedding industry pushes checklists, requirements, and “must have photos” on all of us which can completely snuff out beautiful, natural moments that happen entirely on their own. And on the flip side, social media tempts us to throw our uniqueness out the window so weddings become less about the marriage and more about the look of it. I can’t let that happen to you, friends. And I won’t!

Too often I see photographers making the day revolve around themselves. My heart broke when a friend told me that their photographer took them for an hour during sunset because the lighting was “perfect.” They missed dinner. Their toasts had to be cut short. For what? A few more photos? I give that a resounding NOPE.

This is where I want to change how things in the industry are going and turn back to simplicity. You can rest assured that I will pose you with care + expertise (no nerves with me!) and you can also trust me to get the shots in great lighting that you will love. I also know when step out so Grandma can get a full view of your ceremony without a face full of booty, and when to end the photos so you can share in the wedding meal with your people (sunset photos can be done beautifully in 10 minutes, I promise).

I want to provide you with beautiful photos, I can —and will, but I also want to make sure that you have memories to look back on that are more than a gallery full of portraits. I’m goofy + light-hearted, but I strive for professionalism and being respectful to you, your friends, and your families, and to your DAY. I care. I really care.

Why do you charge what you charge?

 

A wedding photographer does so much more than just show up to your day and click a button! We plan with you those months leading up to your big day, we create timelines + answer questions, we show up + put our very best creative foot forward. We spend the entire week before your wedding thinking about you, talking with your coordinator and preparing for it. We buy expensive gear to make sure your photos are high quality + beautiful and purchase software to make your booking process + downloading experience a cinch. We see things that the common folk wouldn't see on your day and capture it well. We are the coordinator the first half of your wedding day to make sure we are on time + get all those photos you're excited about having. We use our skill to determine what light will make you look most beautiful, we stay up late with you + travel home at late hours in the night. We sort through thousands of images and edit each one by hand, putting our heart into each edit. We love you and support you and put our everything into your experience. 

How many weddings do you shoot a year?

For the upcoming year, my goal is to book 20 weddings. For me, shooting less and having the ability to focus more on each couple is important.

If we don’t need the complimentary engagement shoot, does this lower my package price?

Unfortunately no. The complimentary engagement session is simply an added freebie, and not added into the cost!

 

Do you bring back up equipment? 

 

Absolutely yes. In case of an equipment malfunction, I always keep extra camera gear in my bag!

What kind of deposit do you require? 

 

A 50% retainer fee deposit is required to book your wedding with me. once you've sent me your deposit - I'm all yours and your date is secured!

How many images do we receive? 

 

The amount of images you receive for a typical on-time 8 hour wedding day ranges from 500-800 depending on the amount of time we have for portraits and how things run, and if you hired a second shooter. For example, if you are 45 minutes late coming from your hair and makeup, we won't have much time for bride and groom portraits, so the amount of photos you receive would lessen. For intimate weddings and elopements, between 300-400. And for engagements — 100-150+ images.

What are travel fees?

For engagement shoots outside of Portland — 55 cents per mile  

For Seattle area weddings — 55 cents per mile (your first 30 miles are free when you book!)

For out of state weddings — 2 nights of lodging, organized transportation to and from airport as well as other important locations (venue, etc.) as well as roundtrip plane tickets. Easy peasy.

What’s the sitch with engagement sessions? 

 

Your engagement session is included in your package! Shoot locations that are outside of Portland do require a mileage fee, which I will calculate for ya. These complimentary engagement sessions are 1 hour long, include 2 outfit changes and are edited and delivered within 3 weeks.

Why are Oregon and Washington weddings priced the same? 

 

I love serving both the Portland + Seattle areas equally throughout the year! My heart is in both cities and I always have my bags packed ready to scoot up to Seattle. A mileage fee is required for Seattle area weddings, but no hotel accommodations are necessary! 

Do I need a second shooter? 

 

A second photographer can be added to your package for a fee of $200. With the 8 hour collection a 2nd photographer is included. It's always nice to have another person capturing different angles of your day and things I cannot physically get on my own. So, I do advise adding this on! I will choose a skilled second to accompany me, and he/she will be contracted from the start of the day and will stay for the ceremony, toasts and first dances if your schedule allows (roughly 6 hours).

I want to have a destination wedding, do you travel far?

 

I do! However I only book a select number of destination a year — so let's get chattin'! Let's talk about your day!
