This styled shoot created by the talented Mae & Co. blew me away. It was such a fun evening of making, chatting, laughing + sweating (let me tell ya - it was a H A W T out). Such a talented team of vendors came together and created something that popped straight out of a magazine. Whew. It was beautiful.
Styled shoots are not modeled to be real wedding days - they are controlled environments with enough time to capture each detail to perfection, and lighting that is purposefully chosen to create images that are solid and cohesive and purposefully planned for publication in a magazine or blog. Inspiration - they are for just that! Inspiration. It’s always fun to create without boundaries of time or lighting. It allows photographers to play around and grow and learn new things, and to create content that inspires brides to think outside the box + be bold with their choices for their wedding, and to showcase talented vendors. I’m all for these shoots. they bring artists of all kinds together. it's pretty magical.
Something I love about wedding days, though, is how much of a mystery each one is, and the task of solving that mystery by creating something beautiful out of circumstances that might be more difficult than a styled shoot would be. Got a sunny ceremony that is completely in direct sunlight? Bring it on. Got a dark room where your details are set up? Bring it on!!! I love that. i love creating beautiful images. and if you're a bride reading this - your circumstances might not always be at those "magazine standards". which to me, is the true beauty of a wedding day. your photographer should and can create beautiful images of your day simply because it is beautiful. no matter if it's not in that white studio space, your day will be beautiful. believe that!
I hope you enjoy these!
